John Dahlbäck ft. Erika Gellermark - "Nothing Is For Real" (Warren Clarke Remix) [2005]

This is a House Record of Note

Another contribution from a young Swedish House producer destined to reinforce their 2005 takeover of the scene. Born in 1985 and responsible for tens of housed up riffs, this is the probably the one that will get the most notice. Out on Toolroom Trax, and remixed by veteran Warren Clarke, we have a funked up house tune, a sweet vocal layered over some crisp beats and an excellent bubble bass.

Reminiscent of Junior Jack's trademark sound, Clarke turns in a very well produced mix, emphasising that bassline, using superb drum programming to bring out the funk from the very first bars, and that intoxication never really lets go. The Original is darker and moodier, but it's the funky mix that we're really into.

The vocal is lovely, sliding all over the tune; gently mournful and riding well with the waves of the bass, it's another essential house tune to get down to on the floor, and a staple for the winter club scene.

Stay warm and funky - this is a happy addition to my box and a worthy way to see out the year.
