Armin van Buuren feat. Gabriel & Dresden - "Zocalo" (Album Version) [2005]

This is a Trance Record of Note

Wonderful - a fine trance producer, responsible for some fantastic records over the course of his career. He is particularly good at collaborations and this record benefits from all his experience. He pulls in my favourite dark-trance duo and their teamwork produces a really emotional and interesting piece of music.

Using the haunting guitar licks that Gabriel and Dresden use to great effect in their own productions (especially the phenomenal Beautiful Things under their alias Andain), this record carries a solemn and resonating message. The simplicity of the sound is layered amongst perfectly balanced layers, the strings are signature Armin, and all of the power of a G&D breakdown remains. This would draw a tear from my eye should it be staged amongst similar sounding records in a stadium set and if the DJ was orchastrating the floor with the same emotion with which this record has been written. This is art. It deserves a perfect dancefloor of discerning and respectful clubbers for it to be exhibited.

Currently only available as part of the advance promos for Armin's new album, Shivers. Snag it at Juno.
