Coburn - "We Interrupt This Programme" (JCA Remix) [2005]

This is a Trance Record of Note

Pete Martin and Tim Healey collaborate here on their third release, and man is it of note! Pete is of Cass & Slide fame, and the production talents shine through here. Of all the available and notable mixes I've gone for a recommendation on the JCA remix.

Those of you with an eagle eye will note that JCA are the initials of our man Jean Claude Ades, who was responsible for the last recommended tune. So you know the emphasis is on the electro and the funk, and he does not disappoint. I can't get enough of it, certainly a producer to look to for in the last half of this year and the beginning of the next.

Coburn's wicked synth line and JCA's mad effects and sense of pounding dancefloor momentum really inject a sense of urgency and angry euphoria into this tune. It just keeps me coming back for more. Simple, stuttered vocals pep the interest and keep the ear engaged in the momentary respites that are the interludes: a great time to play with external effects. There's nothing like throwing in some distortion or flange just when the tune is getting ready to go play in techno-synth-land again; makes it a great record for active Djing.

DJDownload had it on promo for a while, but the JCA mix is currently only available digitally from overseas. Of course it's available on vinyl, so hit up Juno. It's coming out on Data records in the UK, so expect a fresh digital release soon.

Listen to a sample of the JCA mix here.

I love all the formats and have all the kit to do them justice, so for me it's all about just owning the tune. Remember: DJs play music to connect and communicate - the format doesn't matter, it's the delivery that counts.
